New Delhi: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs has warned taxpayers against fake GST summons that may carry copied government logos and forged Document Identification Numbers.
CBIC issued the warning through a post on its official X account and urged recipients to verify every notice before taking any action.
“Beware of fake GST summons,” the board stated.
According to the advisory graphic, fraudsters may use fabricated notices, departmental logos and forged DINs to make fraudulent communications appear genuine.
CBIC advised taxpayers not to trust a notice merely because it contains an official-looking logo.
Recipients should examine the DIN carefully and verify it using the official CBIC DIN-verification facility, the advisory said.
The board directed taxpayers to use the verification service available at cbic.gov.in/din-verification.
CBIC urged the public to remain alert, informed and cautious before responding to a purported departmental summons.
