Six-Member Burglary Gang Busted in Jaitpur; Stolen E-Rickshaw Batteries Worth ₹9 Lakh Recovered

Date:

New Delhi: In a significant breakthrough, the South-East District Police have busted a six-member burglary gang involved in a high-value theft at an e-rickshaw battery charging station in Jaitpur. The operation led to the recovery of all 20 stolen batteries worth approximately ₹9 lakh and the seizure of the vehicle used in the crime.

The case came to light following a complaint by Yashpal Singh, who runs a charging station at Peer Baba Basti in Jaitpur. According to the complaint, unidentified burglars broke open the locks of his premises during the night and stole 20 e-rickshaw batteries. An e-FIR (No. 80029285/26 dated April 8, 2026) was registered at PS Jaitpur under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and an investigation was initiated.

Considering the seriousness of the offence, a dedicated police team comprising Head Constables Ranjeet, Surender, Dharambir, Udaibhan, Sandeep, Anil Yadav, and Constable Ravinder was formed. The team conducted a meticulous investigation, scanning and analysing footage from over 120 CCTV cameras in and around the area. They also mapped the escape routes used by the accused.

After sustained efforts, the police carried out targeted raids across multiple locations in Delhi and Loni (Uttar Pradesh), leading to the arrest of six accused: Raheesulla (27), Shahnawaz alias Ayan (26), Kasim alias Lucky, Krishna Kumar (20), Aazer Jalam (21), and Mohd Aman (19).

During interrogation, the accused confessed to their involvement and revealed that they had planned the theft to steal e-rickshaw batteries and sell them to unknown buyers for quick financial gains.

Police recovered all 20 stolen e-rickshaw batteries, valued at around ₹9 lakh, along with an e-rickshaw (registration number UP-14ST-7393) that was used to transport the stolen goods.

Officials stated that none of the accused have any previous criminal record. The successful operation highlights the effective use of surveillance and coordinated field action by the South-East District Police in tackling organized property crimes.
