AAP Removes Raghav Chadha as Rajya Sabha Deputy Leader, Ashok Mittal Appointed

Date:

New Delhi: In a significant political development, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has removed Raghav Chadha from the post of Deputy Leader in the Rajya Sabha and appointed Punjab MP Ashok Mittal as his replacement.

The party has officially communicated its decision to the Rajya Sabha Secretariat. Ashok Mittal, who is also a Rajya Sabha member from Punjab, will now take over the role of Deputy Leader.

Sources indicate that the decision comes amid internal concerns within the party regarding Raghav Chadha’s recent political engagement. During critical moments for the party, including the Delhi excise policy case, Chadha was reportedly not actively visible or involved in party activities.

Party leadership is believed to have assessed his role during challenging times and concluded that a change in leadership was necessary in the Rajya Sabha.

The move is being seen as a strategic decision by AAP to strengthen its parliamentary presence and ensure active leadership in the Upper House.

The development had been anticipated for some time, with speculation growing over Chadha’s reduced visibility within party affairs. The appointment of Ashok Mittal signals a shift in AAP’s internal dynamics and leadership approach at the national level.
