Delhi Excise Policy Verdict: Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia & K. Kavitha Among 23 Discharged for Lack of Evidence

Date:

New Delhi: A Delhi Special Court has discharged 23 accused, including former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, and Telangana Jagruti president K. Kavitha, in the Delhi excise policy case, citing lack of sufficient evidence.

The order was passed by Special Judge Jitendra Singh, who concluded that the prosecution failed to establish a prima facie case against the accused.

The court held that there was no evidence of a larger criminal conspiracy or unlawful intent in the formulation of the Delhi Excise Policy 2021–22. It observed that none of the 23 accused could be linked to criminal wrongdoing at the preliminary stage required to proceed with trial.

With this ruling, the court effectively closed the CBI’s case at this stage, marking a significant development in the high-profile excise policy controversy that had triggered political and legal debates across the country.

The judgment underscores that allegations alone are insufficient without substantive evidence to support criminal charges.
