Mission Reconnect Success: Delhi Police Return 1,850 Stolen Mobiles Worth ₹4 Crore in 40 Days

Date:

New Delhi: In a major citizen-centric policing initiative, the Outer North District of Delhi Police has successfully recovered 1,850 lost and stolen mobile phones worth approximately ₹4 crore within just 40 days under its special drive titled “Mission Reconnect – Your Phone’s Journey Back Home.”

The recovered devices were traced through coordinated technical surveillance and extensive manual field operations. Police teams tracked phones from across the country, including remote areas, demonstrating strong inter-state coordination and systematic investigation efforts.

The recovered mobile phones were formally handed over to their rightful owners during a public programme organized at the Sports Ground, New Police Lines, Kingsway Camp, on February 21. The initiative was led by DCP Hareshwar Swami under the guidance of Joint CP Vijay Kumar and overall supervision of Special CP Ravindra Yadav, under the vision of Commissioner of Police Satish Golchaa.

During the event, Delhi Police emphasized its victim-centric approach, highlighting how reconnecting citizens with their lost property builds trust and strengthens community confidence in law enforcement. Several beneficiaries shared emotional moments upon receiving their recovered devices.

The programme also featured awareness activities, including Nukkad Natak performances on cyber safety, drug abuse prevention, and senior citizen care. Informative videos were screened to educate the public about emerging cyber frauds and digital safety practices.

Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner of Police praised the dedicated efforts of the district team, noting that Mission Reconnect represents a significant milestone in combating mobile theft. He acknowledged the meticulous technical analysis, coordinated fieldwork, effective legal processes, and sustained follow-up that led to the large-scale recovery.

Officials stated that Mission Reconnect is not merely a recovery drive but a symbol of proactive policing that combines technology, investigation, and community engagement to deliver tangible outcomes.

The Outer North District reiterated its commitment to responsive, transparent, and accountable policing, assuring citizens that such focused operations against property crimes will continue in the future.
