‘Shoot-and-Scoot Politics’: Delhi Minister Ashish Sood Writes to Kejriwal, Demands Apology

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Home, Power, Urban Development and Education Minister Ashish Sood has written a strongly worded letter to Aam Aadmi Party national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, accusing him of making “wrong and misleading statements” regarding the deployment of government school teachers in the national capital.

In the letter dated January 5, 2026, Sood refuted Kejriwal’s public claim that teachers were being assigned duties related to counting stray dogs, calling the allegation “factually incorrect” and a “serious misrepresentation.” He pointed out that a government circular clarifying the matter is already in the public domain.

‘Shoot-and-Scoot Politics’: Delhi Minister Ashish Sood Writes to Kejriwal, Demands Apology

Sood said that given Kejriwal’s administrative background as a former Chief Minister, such statements cannot be dismissed as a misunderstanding. Instead, he alleged that the remarks appear to be a deliberate attempt to derail the smooth implementation of an important public safety initiative.

The Minister further accused the Aam Aadmi Party of indulging in what he described as “shoot-and-scoot politics”—making unfounded allegations, creating public sensation, and then retreating without accountability.

Stating that such political conduct creates avoidable turmoil and undermines public confidence, Sood said he would not allow misinformation to affect the functioning of schools or the welfare of children. He urged Kejriwal to take responsibility for spreading what he termed disinformation and to issue a public apology to the people of Delhi.

Emphasising the need for responsible political discourse, Sood wrote that restraint, honesty and respect for facts are essential in public life, and appealed to Kejriwal to refrain from making what he called false and misleading claims in the future.

The letter has added fresh fuel to the ongoing political confrontation between the Delhi government and the Aam Aadmi Party leadership, particularly on governance and administrative issues.
