Delhi Villagers Issue Ultimatum: Mundka Toll Plaza Must Go by September 20, Protest with JCBs and Tractors Planned for 21st

Date:

New Delhi: The demand to remove the toll plaza in Mundka, Delhi has intensified after a grand panchayat of 365 village heads and thousands of residents declared an ultimatum to the government. Villagers have given the administration time until September 20 to abolish the toll. If no action is taken, they have threatened a mass protest on September 21, with JCBs and tractors to dismantle the toll booth.

The villagers argue that the toll has created daily hardships, forcing families to pay tax multiple times just to meet relatives, attend schools, or commute within nearby villages. Residents described the toll as “an unfair burden on rural Delhi,” pointing out that land was acquired cheaply, yet locals are being taxed heavily.

During the Mahapanchayat at Mundka, village leaders including Surendra Solanki stated:

“This is our final ultimatum. If the government does not meet our demand by September 20, then on the 21st we will come with JCBs and tractors and bring down this toll plaza.”

Women, elders, and youth also voiced strong opposition, saying that while the government talks of development, rural citizens are being forced to pay repeatedly for local travel. Several residents criticized the administration for ignoring repeated complaints, alleging corruption and negligence.
