Four-Storey Building Collapses in Delhi’s Welcome Area; Rescue Operations Underway, Several Feared Trapped

New Delhi: A four-storey building collapsed on Saturday morning in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi, raising fears that several people may be trapped under the debris, police officials said.

Emergency services were alerted around 7 a.m., following which multiple rescue teams, including seven fire tenders, were rushed to the scene. A coordinated rescue operation involving multiple agencies is currently in progress.

“We received a distress call about a building collapse in the Welcome area at 7:00 am. Several teams have been deployed and rescue efforts are underway. Further details will be available shortly,” a senior police officer said.

Authorities have not yet confirmed the number of people trapped or the cause of the collapse. Rescue teams are clearing debris and searching for survivors as more equipment is being mobilized to aid the operation.
