Delhi Police Sub-Inspector Killed in Hit-and-Run During Patrolling Duty in Kalyanpuri

New Delhi: A Delhi Police sub-inspector was killed in a tragic road accident while on patrolling duty in the early hours of Friday. The incident occurred near the DCP office cut in Kalyanpuri when an unidentified vehicle hit him and fled the scene, a senior official confirmed.

The deceased officer has been identified as Yashpal, a native of Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. He was posted at the Pandav Nagar police station and was assigned highway patrolling duty on NH-24 and NH-9.

According to the police, the accident took place around 2:30 am when Sub-Inspector Yashpal was heading towards Ghazipur via NH-9 to take an exit and make a U-turn. An unknown vehicle rammed into his motorcycle near the Kalyanpuri stretch and sped away without stopping.

He was rushed to Max Vaishali Hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Yashpal is survived by his son, Tarun Pawadia (28), who is currently preparing for competitive government exams, the police official added.

An investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend the driver of the offending vehicle.
