Tony Blair, Delhi CM Discuss Innovation in Governance, Education Reforms During Key Meeting

New Delhi: Former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair met Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta at the Delhi Secretariat on Thursday, engaging in a wide-ranging discussion on governance innovation, education reforms, and urban transformation.

According to an official statement, CM Gupta briefed Blair on the capital’s comprehensive development vision under the ‘Viksit Dilli’ initiative. She outlined Delhi’s citizen-centric approach to enhancing public services, digital governance, school and healthcare infrastructure, women’s empowerment, and environmental sustainability.

The meeting was described as a “courtesy call” but featured substantial dialogue on strengthening democratic institutions, embracing innovative governance models, and pushing forward reforms in urban policy and education systems.

Gupta emphasized the Delhi Government’s willingness to collaborate with the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change to develop future-ready governance models and build a more inclusive, citizen-first capital.

Blair commended Delhi’s strides in education reform, green policy initiatives, and the digital transformation of public service delivery. He expressed particular interest in Delhi’s efforts to use technology as a tool for inclusive development.

Calling the interaction “enriching,” CM Gupta said such international engagements help foster exchange of best practices and acknowledged the role of the Tony Blair Institute in supporting democratic governance globally.
