Tragedy Strikes Delhi Water Park: 7-Year-Old Boy Drowns, Police Investigate

Date:

New Delhi: A shadow of grief hangs over a Delhi water park following the accidental drowning of a seven-year-old boy. The incident occurred in the Alipur area of outer-north Delhi, prompting a police investigation into potential negligence and safety lapses.

Authorities were alerted to the tragedy on Saturday, a day after the devastating event unfolded at approximately 5 PM on Friday.

According to police reports, the young victim, identified as a nephew of a man named Yamin, was enjoying the water park with his family when the accident occurred. “The family was in the pool when the nephew drowned,” stated Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outernorth) Hareshwar V Swami.

Despite immediate efforts to rush the boy to a nearby nursing home in Kundli, Haryana, doctors were unable to revive him. Adding to the complexity of the situation, the boy’s family, after informing his father, made the difficult decision to conduct a burial at home without initially notifying local authorities.

Police were only informed of the incident the following day, triggering a formal inquiry at the Alipur police station. “We are meticulously verifying the sequence of events and gathering statements from all involved parties,” stated the officer.

“Further legal action will be determined based on the findings of our inquiry.”

The investigation will include a thorough examination of the water park’s safety protocols and procedures to ascertain if any negligence contributed to the tragic loss of life.

The water park management is also cooperating with the ongoing investigation.
