New Delhi: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Kishangarh Police Station has been transferred to district lines, and three officers on patrol duty have been suspended following allegations of an attempted cover-up involving the recovery of drugs at a crime scene. The incident occurred in Southwest Delhi, according to a police official on Saturday.
The investigation began after police responded to a PCR call on the night of June 9th and 10th reporting a murder in the Kishangarh area. Prakash, a 26-year-old male, was found fatally stabbed following an argument with a friend of his partner.
Lalhriatpuia, 23, from Mizoram, was arrested and identified as the accused. During the investigation at the scene, the officers, along with the SHO, allegedly discovered approximately two kilograms of illicit drugs.
Sources within the police department allege that the officers removed the drugs from the location without reporting the discovery to the proper authorities. An internal investigation was launched, leading to the recovery of the contraband from the officers’ possession.
The three officers on patrol were initially placed under the supervision of special staff at the Vasant Vihar Police Station before being suspended.
The SHO has been transferred to district lines, pending the outcome of an inquiry into his potential involvement in the alleged incident. This is not the first time the SHO has faced scrutiny. In December 2022, a video circulated on social media showing him dancing in uniform at a family event while serving as the SHO of Naraina, sparking controversy.
