New Delhi: A late-night drinking session in Delhi’s Munirka area turned deadly, resulting in the death of a 26-year-old man. Police have arrested a 23-year-old suspect, alleging the crime was committed in a fit of rage following an argument between the victim, the suspect, and a female companion.
The deceased, identified as Parkash, a native of Alwar, Rajasthan, was found with severe neck injuries at approximately 1:12 AM on Monday. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival.
According to police reports, Parkash, the woman, and the suspect, Lalhriatpuia, a resident of Haiderpur originally from Mizoram, were drinking together when an argument erupted between Parkash and the woman. When Lalhriatpuia intervened, he was reportedly assaulted as well.
The situation escalated while the woman briefly stepped onto the terrace. Police allege that Lalhriatpuia then attacked Parkash. Upon her return, the woman discovered Parkash bleeding profusely and Lalhriatpuia attempting to stop the bleeding with a towel.
“We have recovered a knife and a pair of scissors from the scene,” stated a police officer involved in the investigation. “Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event is currently underway.” The suspect, Lalhriatpuia, remains in custody.
