100 Days On, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Defends Mahila Samriddhi Yojana Rollout Delay

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized on Friday that while 100 days may not suffice to fully implement a comprehensive initiative like the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana, her administration is committed to ensuring that every eligible woman benefits from the program.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had pledged in its “Viksit Delhi Sankalp Patra” during the February Assembly elections to provide a monthly stipend of Rs 2,500 to women from economically disadvantaged families under the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana. The Delhi Cabinet has approved a substantial allocation of Rs 5,100 crore for the scheme’s implementation.

“I believe that the time elapsed thus far is insufficient for the rollout of a robust and comprehensive program like the Mahila Samriddhi Yojana,” Gupta stated in response to inquiries regarding the scheme’s progress. “We are dedicated to delivering a well-structured initiative that will be thoroughly examined and registered for all eligible women in Delhi.”

During a media briefing marking the completion of 100 days of the BJP government in Delhi, the Chief Minister reiterated that this is not a one-time initiative. “Beneficiaries will receive financial support on a monthly basis,” she added.

“We are committed to ensuring that no woman is left behind. The scheme will be launched soon, and it will reach every eligible woman,” Gupta affirmed.

In response to the Chief Minister’s remarks, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) previously questioned when the ruling BJP would fulfill its promise of providing Rs 2,500 to women.
