Waterlogging in Delhi: Congress Pins Blame on Rekha Gupta Government

Date:

New Delhi: Devender Yadav, the President of the Congress Delhi unit, criticized the Rekha Gupta government on Monday, attributing the recent waterlogging in the national capital to its “indecisive” working style following heavy overnight rainfall.

Yadav remarked that while the BJP government was busy crafting elaborate plans to celebrate its 100 days of “achievements,” the city was left submerged due to the downpour.

Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated that officials would be held accountable if waterlogging occurred in their designated areas. However, she maintained that the situation was under control this time, despite the heavy rains.

Yadav contended that, similar to the previous AAP government, the BJP administration is quick to make excuses for the persistent issues of waterlogging and traffic congestion. “The BJP government’s indecisive approach cannot protect Delhi from the threat of waterlogging disasters,” he asserted.

The Delhi Congress chief emphasized that the pre-monsoon rains, which resulted in waterlogging in various parts of the city, have “fully exposed” the government’s “half-hearted” efforts to address this ongoing problem.

He further accused the BJP government of having “mastered the art of misleading the public,” much like its predecessor under Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.

As of now, there has been no immediate response from the BJP regarding these allegations.
