NEW DEHI: The Election Commission will be taking action in accordance with Article 326 of the Representation of the People Act, 1950, as well as relevant Supreme Court judgments, regarding the linking of EPIC with Aadhaar.

Technical consultations between UIDAI and experts from the Election Commission of India are set to commence shortly.

Today, the Election Commission of India, led by Chief Election Commissioner Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, held a meeting at Nirvachan Sadan in New Delhi with the Union Home Secretary, Secretary Legislative Department, Secretary MeitY, CEO of UIDAI, and technical experts from the ECI.

According to Article 326 of the Indian Constitution, the right to vote can only be granted to Indian citizens, while an Aadhaar card simply serves as a means of establishing a person’s identity.
